DESCRIPTION

1.1 This guide provides recommended procedures for the installation of hot-applied rubberized asphalt (HRA) membrane for roofing and waterproofing applications in areas where it will be protected from sunlight and potential physical damage.

1.2 This guide applies to fabric-reinforced HRA membranes and unreinforced HRA membranes installed over substrates approved by the HRA manufacturer.

1.3 This guide is intended primarily for new construction, but includes general guidelines for installations on existing sound structural concrete and panelized substrates deemed in good condition by the project team and HRA membrane manufacturer.

1.4 Typical applications include protected membrane roofing systems and waterproofing concrete slab construction on plaza decks, parking garages, roof terraces, pedestrian concourses or podiums, foundation walls, bridge decks, reflective pools, and planters.

1.5 This guide is not intended for Specification D6152/D6152M SEBS-modified mopping asphalt.

1.6 Values stated in SI units are to be regarded as the standard. Values given in parentheses are for information only.

1.7 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety, health, and environmental practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.

1.8 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.
