This standard provides requirements and recommendations to help organisations to implement design processes in a way that is compatible and complementary to those specified in UNE-EN ISO 9001. This standard aims to help the organisation to improve its design process, taking the context of quality management as a reference. It covers the requirements for the deployment of the design process both in the field of product design and in the field of services. Through the fulfilment of the requirements established in this standard, for this specific design process, it is possible to obtain a certification in its performance for any organisation, whether or not it has an ISO 9001 management system in place, contributing to the improvement of the development of this process. The standard enables self-assessment and certification that the organisation is at one of two possible levels of performance of the design process, basic or advanced level.
