BS 6043-1.9:1989

This standard BS 6043-1.9:1989 Methods of sampling and test for carbonaceous materials used in aluminium manufacture. Electrode pitch is classified in these ICS categories:

• 71.100.10 Materials for aluminium production
• 75.140 Waxes, bituminous materials and other petroleum products

This International Standard specifies a method for determining the sulfur content of pitch used in the production of aluminium. The method is applicable to pitches of both coal tar and petroleum origin, provided that they contain at least 0,1 % (m/m) sulfur.

Applies to pitch with a sulphur content of not less than 0.1%.
