This International Standard specifies requirements and test methods for evacuated and non-evacuated single-use venous blood specimen containers. It does not specify requirements for blood collection needles, needle holders, blood culture receptacles or arterial blood gas collection devices that may be used for venous blood. In some countries, the national pharmacopoeia or other national regulations are legally binding and take precedence over this standard.
