1.1 This specification covers all aluminum-alloy deoxidizing products of all compositions in the form of ingots, bars, rods, cones, nuggets, shot, or stars, for use in the manufacture of iron and steel. Six of the most commonly used deoxidizing product compositions are designated as shown in Table 1.

1.2 Units—The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regarded as standard. The values given in parentheses are mathematical conversions to SI units that are provided for information only and are not considered standard.

1.3 It is recommended this specification be used to detail the responsibilities of the purchaser and producer for quality assurance tests, testing methods and process control requirements for other aluminum alloys which are not listed in Table 1. The chemical composition limits, shall be agreed upon by the purchaser and the producer.
