This standard specifies the performance requirements, and defines levels, in terms of passive safety, of systems designed to reduce the severity of accidents, in cases of impact against existing overpasses in the road network. To this end, a series of recommendations are established that can be applied to any protection system that is installed in the "in situ" or "prefabricated" underpasses, regardless of the type of road where it is intended to be installed (dual carriageway, or single carriageway), its design and/or traffic composition. Annex B (informative) provides recommendations for the conformity assessment of SPPS.
