This standard defines the selection of ASTM forged steel sleeves for tube connection by socket welding, of preferred use for the fabrication and assembling of pipe systems and services in sea-going vessels and other marine crafts (e.g. offshore units) specifying the geometry, dimensions, and material for these sleeves, fulfilling their normal service requirements.
