The objective of this standard is to provide a model and a tool in order to assess the quality of Digital Educational Material (DEM) that have been created and used on electronic teaching and learning environments. The ultimate aims, in turn, are to encourage and facilitate the creation, update and the manual, semiautomatic and automatic selection and assessment of efficient DEM on its technological and educational use. These aims are defined in the following specific goals: (1) to guide the creation of quality DEM; (2) to assess DEM created by teachers, institutions, organizations, companies and others; (3) to help users to select the best DEM; and (4) to contribute to assess in a more precise, impartial and complete way e-learning and teaching actions and offers, based on DEM´s quality as basic constitutive element.
