This document specifies a method for specifying decorative and protective organic coatings on aluminium and its alloys. It defines the characteristic properties of organic liquid coatings and lists methods of test for checking the characteristic properties with minimum performance requirements, and gives information on the grades of application environment in which the painted aluminium should exercise.

This document is chiefly address to aluminium products with liquid coatings for general applications, liquid coatings mainly processed by electrostatic liquid spraying, air spraying or airless spraying.

This document excludes coil coatings on aluminium.
