Popis

1.1 This guide covers the general principles and considerations to plan, design, execute, and integrate data for consumer product tests across cultures and countries (cross-cultural consumer research).

1.2 In this guide, special consideration is given to language and translation, questionnaire design, and test execution based on key cultural differences.

1.3 Unique issues including understanding cultural customs and practices, leveraging infrastructure and technology, and aligning a research initiative across multiple cultural markets are also addressed.

1.4 In this guide, a specific test method or procedure is not recommended. Rather, it is a discussion of relevant topics applicable to consumer research conducted with different cultures within a country and region, as well as in different countries.

1.5 This guide does not include the following content from MNL 55: individual country chapters outlining specific considerations for testing in that country or culture; case studies illustrating recommended research designs and execution, data analysis approaches and reporting data of results for a variety of cross-cultural research scenarios.

1.6 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety, health, and environmental practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.

1.7 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.
