This British Standard establishes terms, methods of test and inspection procedures for radio interference suppression filters of assessed quality for use in electronic equipment and in the electrical power supply to equipment, appliances, machines and apparatus. It includes safety requirements and tests which may be mandatory, according to the application.

NOTE. The filter may form part of equipment to which other safety requirements apply, e.g. BS 415, BS 3456.

This standard is intended to be used in conjunction with BS 9000 and with related detail specifications in which are stated the dimensions, ratings, tests and requirements applicable to individual filters or series of filters.
